THE PROBLEM 0.o

Our school football team has been having issues with their trainers getting ruined constantly whenever going to attend a match in other schools, most of the players not having shin guards causing several injuries to occur in matches which means less players get to play the game and the goal keeper doesn't have his own gloves which means that he has to use the school's which are torn and worn-out. The players didn't get proper football cleats in the first place because the school's field doesn't have real grass to play on, instead the school has artificial, plastic grass which is normal-trainer friendly. Normal trainers get easily worn-out when used on real grass, which causes problems throughout the whole team.

So, I am planning on designing new soccer cleats for the whole football team so that they won't face this problem again. Also, because I was in my past school's football team, I experienced the same problem. I plan on making the cleats waterproof because at times, the sprinklers are on in other schools' field, which leads to bigger studs than usual. I will also make the sides of the cleats glow in the dark so that it makes them unique and will represent the team in a different way than the other teams. To make the material the cleats are made by waterproof,

I'm going to use this material for the body:

This material is waterproof and doesn't tear easily. Usually, cleat body material tears easily because of the roughness of the ground or because it isn't waterproof on a wet field which will make it dirty, leading to washing which causes it to wear-out. The studs will be made out of rubber which is waterproof. Also, I will be attaching a force gauge to the cleats so that the coach will be able to identify their weakness at that point of skill.

I also plan on designing shin guards for the players because safety always comes first before anything else. I think not having protection while playing football is a great risk because football is one of the most aggressive sports to take part in. I won't be changing the material of the shin guards because it will be covered by the players' long socks anyway so it won't make much of a difference. However, I will also attach a force gauge into this so that if I choose not to make the cleats, the gear will still have the same advantage as the other. I could also attach a tool which can insure the player's safety to the coach and themselves.

Goalie's Gloves are also one of the team's major problems. So, I plan on designing new ones. The glove I'm going to design will have rough grip at the palm, I am going to insure that happens by applying 7 gauge PVC-dots. This will help the goalie to keep a tight grip on the ball when goal keeping. The gauge  tells the coach the goalie's grip on the ball, which also makes it easier for him to identify the goalie's weakness at that point of skill. The other side will be waterproof. I will use leather to insure that happens. Also, for the colour, I will make them a neon orange or a neon yellow, because studies have shown that these colours distract humans the most, which is an advantage to the school's team because if an attacker from the other team tries to score, they will most likely miss their target because of how distracting the colour of the gloves are.

This will be the palm of the gloves:

This will be the other side of the glove:

The gear I'm making is the shin guard because due to my research, it is the easiest to make compared to the others because if I am going to make cleats with different material, I will have to be an expert at making shoes since I'm going to have to shape the material properly. Also, for the goalie's gloves, I will need to use PVC, which is not only expensive and hard to find, but is also extremely dangerous to deal with and is only used by professional scientists.

Design Brief

Football players don't know how healthy their muscles or bones are when playing football, so the coaches can't insure the player's safety. This can be a huge risk for the team. So, I plan on attaching either a tiny x-ray emitter or a push pull dynamo-meter. The tiny x-ray emitter is an x-ray device which scans the whole body and sends the x-ray image via bluetooth to the coach's device and the player's device. It will send an alert tone if there is a broken bone which will alarm the coach and it won't take as long as it does in a medical clinic. The push-pull dynamo-meter checks the state of the muscles. This helps the coach identify which muscles the player should stretch most. It works the same way as the x-ray does. I will insert a force gauge into both designs. The force gauge measures the amount of force of the kick put into the ball and sends it to the coach via bluetooth.

Design Specification

I will be using Microsoft publisher for my brochure because due to my research, it is one of the most used editor and layout tool for creating leaflets, postcards, newsletters, e-mail newsletters, greeting cards, etc. It is also very easy to use compared to other complicated professional software tools. I am also very familiar with this software since I used it in other multiple products. Also, this software has different brochure layouts which will be very useful when I am investigating. I will be investigating with the different types of brochures, each one individually

For the design, I will be using Photoshop, this is because it’s a program that is so rich, complex, and powerful, people literally spend most of the waking hours of their life using it, and are still always learning new tricks and techniques! Thankfully, however, the learning curve for Photoshop is not steep, and users can create very appealing products with a short introduction to the concepts and tools of Photoshop. The advantages of Photoshop are that it’s the leading digital image editing application for the Internet, print and other new media disciplines. The disadvantage of Photoshop is that it is not designed for beginners. There are a lot of different tools that do very different things, so it takes time and patience with yourself in order to learn how to use each one correctly.

Testing:

I will be holding out a questionnaire for certain individuals in this school. Examples of some of the questions will be:
  • Is the logo design big enough?
  • Will it represent the team name as it should?
  • Is the brochure design catchy?
  • Which colours would represent our team the best?
  • What would you like to improve?
  • Rating out of 10?
